Developing The Leader Within You

Self-Talk: What Are You Feeding Your Mind?

We each have thousands of thoughts each and every day.

Don’t believe me? Listen to what you’re telling yourself right now!

Your mind is a constantly at work, it’s either working for you or working against you.  What’s even more powerful is, we all control exactly what we allow in! Your mind is similar to a computer. You are the “controller” of what you “enter” and “delete”.

It’s been said from just about every successful entrepreneur that self-talk is something that we must continually master in order to keep our minds focused on where we are going. Some of the most successful athletes of our generation were masters at self-talk. Pull up videos of Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, and Derek Jeter – you will find that they all “spoke to themselves” before each and every shot, play, and at bat.  Why did I choose the three above? Because they are all champions. In order to become a champion, you must model what champions do.

I encourage you to write a set of affirmations that tap into the truest sense of who you want to become. Write these affirmations on an index card and keep it with you everywhere you go, write these affirmations on your bathroom mirror, keep these affirmations next to your bed.

What you think about expands and becomes…

Here is a powerful affirmation from Darren Hardy, Founder of Success Magazine. When I read this, I literally called myself on my own telephone and recorded myself saying this…

“I am a smart, confident and effective leader. I seek and cultivate the strength and greatness in everyone around me. I am a Goal Setting, disciplined master of time efficiency. I focus solely on high-payoff and high-productivity actions. I wake up an hour earlier and review my priority objectives each morning. I fuel my body properly and exercise four days a week so that I am energetic and highly effective each work hour. I feed my mind ideas and inspiration that will support and bolster my passion. I surround myself with peers and mentors who elevate my expectations and prod me to rise to greater levels of discipline, commitment and achievement.”

Make a continuous effort to ask yourself…

“What am I feeding my mind?”.

I Appreciate You,

  1. “What you think about expands and becomes…” This is so true. Recentley read the book, “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne, which talks about positive thoughts resulting in positive results, and the same for negative thoughts.

“Everything thats coming into your life, you are attracting into your life. And it’s attracted to you by virtue of the images you’re holding in your mind. ITS WHAT YOU’RE THINKING. What ever is going on in your mind, you are attracting to you”.
